Khateeb and Public Speaking Workshop

, About the Workshop 

This intensive two-day program scheduled to take place on Saturday July 27 and Sunday July 28 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  It is meticulously crafted to equip aspiring Muslim public speakers and Khateebs with the essential skills and knowledge necessary for delivering impactful sermons and leading congregational prayers. The workshop aims to empower participants with the requisite Islamic knowledge, public speaking prowess, and legal understanding to excel in their roles as leaders and communicators within their communities. 

Target Audience 

This workshop is designed for Muslim men aspiring to deliver Friday sermons and lead congregational prayers in mosques. It is also beneficial for Muslim men and women who seek to enhance their public speaking skills and deepen their understanding of Islamic jurisprudence related to public speaking. This workshop is primarily intended for Muslim young adults (e.g. university students)  and youth (grade 8 and up). Adults of any age are also welcome to attend, whether they want to refresh their knowledge or engage with the youth to bring their style up-to-date.

Registration for the workshop includes:

Objectives 

  • Provide comprehensive training on delivering Friday sermons and leading congregational prayers in accordance with Islamic principles. 
  • Facilitate networking opportunities for participants to offer sermons in various mosques. 
  • Empower Muslim women and men with the Islamic knowledge, public speaking skills and legal understanding to excel in their roles as leaders 
  • Cultivate a pool of proficient Khateebs to support mosques and communities in delivering Friday prayers. 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the Fiqh pertaining to Friday prayers and the responsibilities of Khateebs. 
  • Acquire essential public speaking techniques and strategies for delivering impactful speeches or Friday sermons. 
  • Develop a sense of responsibility towards the community and mentorship skills to support fellow Khateebs or lecturers. 

Certification 

Upon successful completion of the workshop and evaluation process, participants will receive certification and be added to the Khateeb list, expected to deliver at least one sermon per month.

Registration Fees 

Early Bird fees: $315 until July 19th at 11:59 EST.

Regular fees are $350

Fees cover the workshop, materials, refreshments, cost of examination, practicum, and certification.

Full scholarships and financial aid are always available.
